North Villa Characters

BASIL – Male, 20s–30s. High baritone or tenor. Intelligent, intense, romantic, naïve. The male lead. It is his story that the Polkres Players decide to act out.
 

RALPH – Male, 20s–30s. High baritone or tenor. Extroverted, high-hearted, caring. Basil's older brother.
 

MARGARET – Female, 20s. Soprano or mezzo-soprano. Beautiful, fragile, conflicted. The object of Basil's affection, but troubled and with a hidden past.
 

CLARA – Female, 20s–30s. Soprano. Warm, grounded, emotionally perceptive. Basil's sister and selfless emotional support

MANNION – Male, 30s–50s. Baritone. Charismatic, dangerous, vengeful. Mr. Sherwin's private secretary and Margaret's tutor.
 

MR. SHERWIN – Male, 40s–60s. Tenor / baritenor. Bourgeois, scheming, pompous. Margaret's father—he has a hidden agenda.

BARTY – Male juvenile (9-14). Cheeky but kind, he is always up to some sort of mischief.

POLKRES PLAYERS – Ensemble roles with doubling. There are no “small roles” in this show. The Polkres Players take on numerous characters within Basil’s story—an excellent opportunity to show your acting range.
